Lyrics and Liner Notes - Order So Say We All Now!

"The songs on this album seem to me to encompass what proved a very difficult year. From the heights of joy to the depths of grief, the lesson learned was to celebrate every day spent on this side of the soil and to keep marching no matter what comes our way. So say we all." ~ David Francey -

Thanks

I began thinking about this CD when I was at my near lowest. The making of the album was a pathway up and out from under. I thank all who played or worked on this project for the hand up – you were a joy to work with.
We recorded live off the floor. Hope you like it. We certainly enjoyed making it.
To Beth, Amy, Julia and Colin with love and thanks.
To my wee Ma for still marching.
Many thanks as always to Al Rankin for the invite to Blue Skies Festival way back when!
This album is dedicated to Ian MacGregor. His passing brought me great sadness but his friendship brought me unmeasured joy. The world’s the better for having known him.
So say we all. ~ David

I’ve ended up in quite a few of these over the years while on the road.

3. Harm (David Francey and Kieran Kane) 2:39 Lyrics

Vocals and harmony vocals: David Francey
Guitar: Mark Westberg

A long and deep period of depression led me to writing my way out of it. It was good to reach the other side.

4. Pandora's Box (David Francey) 3:36 Lyrics

Vocals: David Francey
Guitar and harmony vocals: Mark Westberg
Bouzouki: Darren McMullen
Banjo: Chris Coole

The internet gives a voice to all – some of whom I'd rather not hear from.

(Written in response to the arrest and incarceration of Algonquin chief Bob Lovelace for peacefully protesting an open pit uranium mine in eastern Ontario.)

5. Weather Vane (David Francey) 2:38 Lyrics

6. Satellite (David Francey) 2:49 Lyrics

Vocals and harmony vocals: David Francey
Guitar: Mark Westberg
Mandolin: Darren McMullen

Presented with a crowded sky of stars one night, I found myself wishing that something would move. How typically human – even the glory of the universe isn't enough.

7. American Blues (David Francey) 3:48 Lyrics

Vocals and harmony vocals: David Francey
Guitar and harmony vocals: Mark Westberg

This is not a condemnation of Americans in general, but rather an indictment of the corporate machine and its insatiable greed.

8. A Star Above (David Francey) 3:13 Lyrics

A song of unrequited love. I got the idea from a workshop at the Newfoundland Folk Festival about new songs from old.

Written on the twelfth-floor balcony of my parents’ apartment at the time of my father’s passing.
