Included in the schedule was the NHL's first ever, regular season, outdoor hockey game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens. The day's events also included a mega stars alumni game with hockey greats Wayne Gretzky, Grant Fuhr, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Guy Lafleur, Guy Carbonneau, Guy Lapointe and Larry Robinson in the line-up. Well, David isn't a hockey great but he sure loves the game and was thrilled to learn that his song would air during this very special occasion. What an amazing event to be a part of! CBC put together a montage of the day's events with added scenes of small outdoor rinks and images of hockey greats (including Wayne Gretzky's smiling face) while "Skating Rink" played in the background.
